Es gibt einige erfreuliche Nachrichten. Vor kurzem hat mich eine spanische Journalisten kontaktiert, die gerade einen Artikel über Hermans Arbeit, insbesondere in Bezug auf Spanien und die Zeit, die er hier gelebt hat, schreibt. Der Artikel wird in einem Buch über Kunst und Natur erscheinen, dass von der amerikanischen Zeitschrift Sculpture Magazine herausgegeben wird. Sobald das Buch fertig ist, werde ich weitere Information dazu hier veröffentlichen. Dann bekam ich ein Email von einer südafrikanischen Landschaftsarchitekturstudentin, die eine Arbeit über Hermans Landschaftskunst schreibt, was ihn sicherlich sehr gefreut hätte, denn die Arbeit mit Studenten und jungen Leuten hat ihm immer besonders viel Spass gemacht. Ich finde es schön wie weit verbreitet und international das Verständnis und die Anerkennung von Hermans Arbeit ist und das jüngere Generationen so viel damit anfangen können.
Die Forststation Rheinelbe, wo die Werkschau über Hermans Arbeit im Ruhrgebiet letztes Jahr stattfand, wird einen Teil der Exponate als eine permanente Ausstellung weiterhin zeigen. Die Ausstellung – mit Skizzen, Zeichnungen, Fotos, Korrespondenz, Archivmaterial – zeigt eine weitere Seite der Arbeiten auf Rheinelbe, sowie einen Teil der Entstehungsgeschichte des Skulpturenwaldes. So bekommen Besucher einen vertieften Eindruck der Skulpturalen Orte und Objekte, die auf Rheinelbe zu sehen sind. Herman wollte immer schon eine kleine, permanente Ausstellung auf Rheinelbe und es freut uns sehr, dass die Förster, das Umweltministerium und das M:AI, diese Idee unbedingt realisieren wollten.
Zuletzt will ich kurz erwähnen, dass die Webseite mit Hermans Malerei momentan nicht verfügbar ist. Ramona Dreessen ist gerade dabei die Webseite neu zu gestalten und sie sollte in Kürze fertig sein.

We’ve gotten some good news this month. A few weeks ago, a Spanish journalist contacted me for an article that she’s currently writing about Herman’s work, particularly in relation to Spain and the time he spent here. The article will appear in a book about art and nature by the American publication Sculpture Magazine. As soon as the book is finished, I’ll put up more information about it here. A few days later, I received an email from a South African landscape architecture student, who is working on a project about Herman’s work in the landscape. This would definitely have made him very happy, because working with students and young people in general was always something that brought him a lot of joy. I think it’s wonderful how widely and internationally recognized and appreciated Herman’s work is and how younger generations seem so drawn to it.
The Forststation on Rheinelbe, where the exhibition about Herman’s work on Rheinelbe and in the Ruhr took place last year, has decided to maintain part of the show as a permanent exhibition. The show – which includes sketches, drawings, correspondence, archival material – reveals a different side of the sculptures in the park as well as the background and context in which the Sculptural Wood was created. Thus, visitors get a complex picture of the sculptural places and objects and a more in-depth understanding of the thoughts and creative process behind them. Herman always wanted a small, permanent exhibition on Rheinelbe, and we’re very happy that the Forest Rangers, the Ministry of the Environment and the M:AI (Museum for Architecture and Engineering Art) – who were all involved in developing the exhibition – are so keen on making this happen.
Finally, I want to quickly mention that the website with Herman’s paintings is currently offline. Ramona Dreessen is making changes to the site and it should be ready and back online shortly.

Este mes nos han llegado buenas noticias. Hace unas semanas, un periodista español me contactó por un artículo que estaba escribiendo sobre el trabajo de Herman, sobre todo en relación a España y el tiempo que pasó aquí. El artículo se publicará en un libro sobre arte y naturaleza por la American publication Sculpture Magazine. En cuanto el libro esté acabado, subiré más información sobre él aquí. Unos días más tarde, recibí un correo de un estudiante sudafricano de arquitectura paisajística que está trabajando en un proyecto sobre el trabajo de Herman en el paisaje. Esto le hubiera hecho muy feliz ya que el trabajo con estudiantes y gente joven en general era algo que siempre le trajo mucha alegría. Creo que es hermoso que el trabajo de Herman sea reconocido y apreciado tan extensa e internacionalmente, y que parece atraer a las generaciones más jóvenes.
La Forststation en Rheinelbe, donde el año pasado tuvo lugar la exposición sobre el trabajo de Herman en Rheinelbe y en el Ruhr, ha decidido mantener expuesta parte de la exposición de forma permanente. La exposición-que incluye esbozos, dibujos, correspondencia, material de archivo – revela un lado diferente de las esculturas en el parque y el trasfondo y contexto en el que se creó el Bosque Escultural. Por ello, los visitantes obtienen una visión más compleja de los lugares esculturales y objetos, y una comprensión más a fondo de los pensamientos y del proceso creativo detrás de ellos. Herman siempre quiso una pequeña exposición permanente en Rheinelbe, y estamos muy contentas de que los guardas forestales, el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y el M:AI (Museo para Arquitectura y Arte Ingeniero) – todos ellos involucrados en el desarrollo de la exposición – estén tan entusiasmados de llevar esto a cabo.
Por último, rápidamente quiero mencionar que de momento la página web con los cuadros de Herman no se encuentra en la red. Ramona Dreessen está realizando unos cambios en la misma y en breve debería estar lista y en la red de nuevo.
