Die Ausstellung Rheinelbe – Art in Nature: Eine Werkschau zur Arbeit des Künstlers Herman Prigann läuft vom 16.5 bis zum 26.9 2010 in der Forststation Rheinelbe (Gelsenkirchen).
“Die Wildnis auf der Zechenbrache Rheinelbe in Gelsenkirchen, entstanden in den Jahrzehnten nach Stilllegung des Bergwerks, hat den Künstler Herman Prigann (1942-2008) zu einer besonderen Gestaltung des Waldes inspiriert: Über die Fläche verstreut und in die “neue” Natur hinein komponiert, finden sich Skulpturen, die aus der industriellen Geschichte des Areals zitieren. Sie bestehen aus Materialien, die der Bergbau funktionslos hinterließ. Prigann hat seine Skulpturen mit der Natur verwoben und Kunst und Natur in einen Dialog gebracht. Er war der Kunstrichtung Art in Nature verpflichtet: Sie respektiert ökologische Räume, provoziert neue Wahrnehmungen und ebnet neue Zugänge zur Natur. Durch Priganns Arbeit ist ein völlig neuer Parktyp entstanden.
Die Ausstellung in der Forststation Rheinelbe gibt Einblick in Priganns komplexe Werkprozesse, zeigt seine vielfältigen Projekte im In- und Ausland und sein bislang wenig bekanntes malerisches Werk. Sie bietet einen Einstieg in die Erkundung des Skulpturenwaldes auf Rheinelbe.”

The exhibition Rheinelbe – Art in Nature: A retrospective of the work of artist Herman Prigann will be showing at the Forststation Rheinelbe (Gelsenkirchen) from May 16th until September 26th, 2010.
“The wilderness on the abandoned mining area Rheinelbe in Gelsenkirchen developed over several years after the mine’s closing and inspired artist Herman Prigann (1942-2008) to shape the woodland in a unique way. We come across sculptures scattered throughout the park, set into this “new” nature, which refer to the area’s industrial history. They consist of material leftovers that lost their function once the mining ceased. Prigann intertwined his sculptures with nature and brought art and nature into dialogue. He adhered to the artistic ideas of Art in Nature: respecting ecological spaces, provoking new forms of perception, and paving the way for new ways of approaching nature. The work of Herman Prigann has yielded a completely new kind of park.
The exhibition at the Forststation Rheinelbe provides insight into Prigann’s complex working processes, shows his multifaceted projects – both in Germany and abroad – as well as pieces from his largely unknown body of work as a painter. The exhibition provides an introduction to exploring the Sculptural Park Rheinelbe.”

La exposición Rheinelbe – Art in Nature: Una retrospectiva de la obra del artista Herman Prigann se mostrará en la Forststation Rheinelbe (Gelsenkirchen) del 16 de mayo al 26 de septiembre, 2010.
“ La zona de vegetación salvaje en la mina abandonada de Rheinelbe, Gelsenkirchen se desarrolló durante el transcurso de varios años tras el cierre de la mina e inspiró al artista Herman Prigann (1942-2008) a formar la zona de forma única. Colocadas de forma esparcida en esta “nueva” naturaleza, nos encontramos esculturas que hacen referencia a la historia industrial de la zona. Consisten de residuos de materiales que perdieron su función una vez cerrada la mina. Prigann entrelazó sus esculturas con la naturaleza y juntó en diálogo al arte y a la naturaleza. Se adhirió a las ideas artísticas de Art in Nature: respetando espacios ecológicos, provocando nuevas formas de percepción y colocando las bases para una nueva manera de aproximarse a la naturaleza. El trabajo de Herman Prigann ha dado paso a un tipo de parque completamente nuevo.
La exposición en la Forststation Rheinelbe proporciona una mirada al complejo proceso de trabajo de Herman Prigann, muestra sus proyectos multifacéticos – tanto en Alemania como en otros lugares – y también trabajos de su enormemente desconocida obra como pintor. La exposición proporciona una introducción a la exploración del Parque Escultural Rheinelbe.”
