Ali war vor ein paar Wochen in Wien und hat den Hanging Tree auf der Donauinsel besucht und diese Fotos gemacht. Das Objekt wurde 1985 auf der Donauinsel aufgestellt. Am Anfang stand der Baum gegenüber der UNO City, aber einige Jahre später wurde er umgesiedelt zum heutigen Standort in der Nähe der Floridsdorferbrücke. Der Hanging Tree ist das erste der Metamorphen Objekte – Skulpturalen Orte.
“Dieser Hinweis auf die Vernichtung der Natur zur Schaffung unserer Kultur ist eine Metapher. Wie ein riesiges Pendel bewegt sich der umgekehrte Baum (arbor inversa) im Wind. Darunter, in einer Mulde, liegt ein Granit, in den die Himmelsrichtungen eingraviert sind. Die Spitze des Baumes ist nicht erreichbar. Das Objekt: Dreibein aus Stahl 23,60 m hoch – Baum / Lärche 16,50 m lang – Mulde Durchmesser 20 m, Granit 1,80 m x 1,80 m.” – H. Prigann
A couple of weeks ago, Ali was in Vienna and took these pictures of the Hanging Tree on the Donauinsel (Danube Island). The sculpture, built in 1985, was originally at a different location on the island, across from the UNO City. Years later, the sculpture was moved to its current location, close to the Floridsdorfer bridge. The Hanging Tree is the first of the Metamorphic Objects – Sculptural Places.
“This allusion to the destruction of nature in the name of our culture’s creation is a metaphor. The inverted tree (arbor inversa) moves in the wind like a giant pendulum. Below the tree, in a hollow, lies a block of granite. Engraved in it are the cardinal points. The top of the tree is unreachable. The object: steel tripod 23.60m high – tree (larch) 16.50m long – diameter of hollow 20m, granite block 1.80m x 1.80m.” – H. Prigann

Hace unas semanas, Ali estuvo en Viena y sacó estas fotos del Hanging Tree en la Donauinsel (isla del Danubio). La escultura, creada en 1985, se encontraba en otro lugar de la isla, enfrente de la UNO City, hasta que unos años más tarde fue trasladada a su lugar actual cerca del puente Floridsdorfer. El Hanging Tree es el primero de los Objetos Metamórficos – Lugares Esculturales.

Debajo del árbol, en un hueco, se encuentra un bloque de granito. Inscrito en él están los puntos cardinales. La punta del árbol es inalcanzable. El objeto: trípode de acero 23.60 m de altura – árbol (alerce) 16.50 m de largo – diámetro del hueco 20 m, bloque de granito 1.80m x 1.80m.” – H.Prigann
